My husband Rich Rosenbaum and I have lived in Lincoln since 1998. We love the open space and the 80+ miles of trails, where we walk regularly. I cross country ski when we have snow, and I’m an active backpacker and hiker during the summer. In Lincoln I have served on the Zoning Board of Appeals, Transporation Coalition, Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (and its predecessor committee on bicycle safety) as well as the planning board.
I retired in May 2024 from a long career in technology. I was the chief technology officer of several startups, including Constant Contact. I also spent six years at Nokia after it acquired my second company.
My undergraduate degree is from Wellesley, where I studied theoretical ecology. Theoretical Ecology is the study of the abundance and distribution of species.
About my name: My full name is Setha Margaret Olson. I’ve been asked many times about the origins of my first name, Setha. I am named for my mother, Setha Goodyear Olson, and her mother Setha Michener Goodyear. My great-grandfather had two boys and expected a third (even though he was a doctor and should have known better) and was planning to name the baby Seth. But the baby was a girl, so he called her Setha. Consulting his wife appears nowhere in this family story! The name was originally pronounced with a short e – “Seth-a”, but at some point that was changed to a long e – “See-tha”. I have always gone by Margaret as there were already two Sethas when I was born and became Setha the Third, as I am sometimes jokingly called. My mother and grandmother used the long e pronunciation. I tend to prefer the short e, but since I go by Margaret it is of little consequence.
